3D Animator

Location: Remote

Employment Type: Volunteer (Project-based percentage compensation)

The 3D Animator joining Skyfect will be responsible for the animation process of characters in our game projects. The ideal candidate will be expected to produce fluid and stylistically consistent animations that bring characters to life.

Your responsibilities

  • Producing character-driven 3D animations for game projects.

  • Creating basic animation sets such as idle, walk, run, attack, and interaction.

  • Creating cinematic animations for story-driven scenes.

  • Developing performance animations that reflect the characters' emotions and personalities.

  • Generating animations on rigged characters and providing feedback to the rigging system when necessary.

  • Ensuring that the animations work seamlessly with the game engine (Unity).

  • Optimizing animation transitions (blend, state machine, etc.)

  • Working in coordination with the technical team to contribute to performance and optimization processes.

  • Improving and revising existing animations

  • To create and maintain a language of communication that is consistent with the project style.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Blender, Maya, or similar 3D animation tools.

  • Basic and advanced knowledge of character animation.

  • Proficiency in animation principles such as timing, spacing, weighting, and anticipation.

  • The ability to observe and accurately convey human behavior and character actions.

  • Experience working with rigged characters

  • Portfolio (mandatory – must include character animations in particular)

  • Being open to feedback and adapting to an iterative work process.

  • Teamwork skills and communication abilities.

  • Ability to meet deadlines

    Additional Skills (Preferably)

  • Animation experience in the gaming industry or independent projects.

  • Information about Unity or Unreal Engine animation systems.

  • Root motion, information about HR/FK systems.

  • Facial animation and lip-sync experience

  • Cinematic / cutscene animation experience

  • Experience working with motion capture data

  • Experience in stylized/anime animation language.

  • Basic rigging information

    When evaluating applications, portfolios that include character animation will be given priority. Technical accuracy is important, but the animation's ability to convey emotion and character is equally crucial.
